Suicide Prevention Training

You can increase your awareness of suicide prevention with these free online training courses. Anyone over the age of 16 can complete.

Level 1 Suicide Prevention Training

Would you like to learn how to have a potentially life saving conversation? If yes, the training below might be for you.

Zero Suicide Alliance Suicide Awareness training- The Zero Suicide Alliance Suicide Arevention online training course only takes 20 minutes to complete. Within this course, you will learn how to spot suicide warning signs, how to have a conversation with someone you're worried about and be able to signpost to further support. The training is free and available to anyone aged 16 or over.

Zero Suicide Alliance Autism and Suicide Awareness training - This online course has been co-produced with people from the autistic community. Within this course you will learn about autism and suicide risk, hear from real experiences, how to spot signs and support an autistic person and signpost to further support. The training is free and recommended to anyone aged 16 or over and working with autistic people or part of the autistic community.

Level 2 Suicide Prevention Training

If you would like to develop your knowledge further to support individuals who may be having thoughts of suicide, the training below might be for you. 

Dorset's Suicide Prevention Programme through Public Health Dorset has funded a free one-day training course in Suicide First Aid: Understanding Intervention. This course quips workforce members of Dorset with skills and the confidence to have early conversations, listen and signpost effectively.

The Suicide First Aid: Understanding Intervention course is delivered online, from 9am-5pm, with a pre-training requirement. Dates are available between September 2024 to March 2025. Level 3 Suicide Prevention Training

Dorset's Suicide Prevention Programme through Public Health Dorset has funded a free one-day training course in Enhancing Suicide Prevention Skills. This course is for workforce members of Dorset who regularly interact with and support individuals who many experience thoughts of suicide. Anyone who undertakes this course will gain in-depth knowledge and skills to support someone who is thinking about or planning suicide including equipping you with the skills to recognise when someone is having thoughts of suicide.

The Enhanced Suicide Prevention Skills course is delivered in-person, from 9am-5pm, with an additional requirement to complete pre and post-course material.
