Find a stop smoking service
In Dorset, we commission free and friendly stop smoking services to support people who want to quit smoking. This is a face-to-face or virtual support offer from a pharmacy, GP or an online-based service where they will help you make a quit attempt.
It's never too late to quit. No matter your age or how long you've been smoking, quitting will improve your health, and getting support from your local stop smoking service can hugely increase your chances of quitting successfully and staying quit for good.
The stop smoking support offer is a 12-week programme, with the option to have check-ins face-to-face or virtually on a day and time that suits you. During each check-in, a member of the pharmacy or GP team may do a breathing test to monitor carbon monoxide levels as well as talk through the benefits to quitting.
Giving up smoking can be tough, and it can take several attempts before you successfully quit for good. Stop smoking services understand how difficult it is, and they can help you get back on track to becoming a non-smoker if you’ve relapsed. You can refer yourself to the programme again, if you’ve not managed to stay smoke free after your first attempt.
